Announcements
On this page you will find updates, announcements, and additional resources from Mrs. D'Amico's 7th grade classroom.
Welcome back to class after the long holiday weekend! I hope that everyone enjoyed their time off.
Here is a look at what we are working on over the next few weeks: English: We have kicked off a three-week unit on Historical Fiction writing. Students will be researching and creating their own stories about the daily life of ancient Egyptians. This is an exciting way for us to incorporate our social studies curriculum into our writing. For homework tonight, students should be continuing the research they have started in class, and generating a lust of potential story ideas based on this research. Students can do this by creating a list, idea web, or series of illustrations. Students should come to class prepared to build on their ideas. Reading: This month we will be focusing on drama. Students will discover the key elements of drama as we read A Christmas Carol together as a class. In addition, students will choose their own free choice reading book to read each day in class. This book should be both age and school-appropriate. Students should come prepared with their reading books tomorrow. Social Studies: We are continuing to dive into our study of Ancient Egypt. This week we will be focusing on Egyptian religious beliefs, including gods and goddesses, the afterlife, and mummification. If time allows, I am hoping to work with the students on their own mummification lab activity. It should be very exciting! Looking forward to a great few weeks together before we head off to winter break.+
