Happy Monday everyone!
I hope you are all ready and excited for our first FULL week of school. Here is a look at what we are doing in class this week: Reading: 1. Diving deeper into our new reading group books. 2. Reviewing the elements of narrative stories, and uncovering their purpose within our mentor texts and group reading books. Early in the week, we will read "The Jacket" by Gary Soto. Writing: 1. Today student have completed their first district wide narrative writing prompt. Students were asked to brainstorm, plan, and write a small moment narrative in 40 minutes, 2. Later in the week, we will review the steps of the writing process, and kick off our first writing unit, where student write a story based on personal experiences! I am looking forward to seeing the great stories the students have in mind! Social Studies: 1. This week students will wrap up their Map Skills review, focusing on refreshing their skills of how to use a map accurately. 2. Student will have their first test - on Map Skills- on FRIDAY. Student should review their map skills handbook throughout the week to prepare. ANNOUNCEMENT: The MAP SKILLS TEST HAS BEEN MOVED TO FRIDAY FOR ALL CLASSES DUE TO SCHEDULE CONFLICTS LAST WEEK.
