Here is a look at what wee are working on this week:
Reading: This week we are focused on THEME. Specifically, how an author develops theme throughout the course of a novel. Students will apply their knowledge to their dystopian novels each day. Homework this week: 1. Complete your weekly page goal before class on FRIDAY. Be prepared to meet with your group for your book club meeting. 2. Article of the Week assignment due on Friday. Be sure to complete and submit both the reading and writing portions of the assignment. Writing: This week we are taking a fresh look at Dystopia, providing a new model for students to look at and apply to their writing, by reading, analyzing, and responding to the short story Harrison Bergeron by Kurt Vonnegut. Social Studies: We are winding down our study of The fertile Crescent over the next two week. This week, we take a closer look at the Phoenician society and their impact on the Mediterranean world. Students will study this group through a closer look at their trade, colonies, and language. Homework this week: Section quiz on Friday. Review each night. SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Student will be assigned a Unit Project for the Fertile Crescent this week. Project Agreement due: Friday November 4th Final Projects due: Monday November 14th Look for a separate announcement for additional details!
