Announcements
On this page you will find updates, announcements, and additional resources from Mrs. D'Amico's 7th grade classroom.
There are a lot of new things coming into our classroom! We are kicking off our new units this week in both ELA and Social Studies. We are also starting a new weekly homework assignment in Reading Class. Here is a look at where we are headed: ELA: Students will begin brainstorming their new writing unit: Dystopia! Students will write short stories that highlight a key issue they believe exists in our society today. The topics and ideas that I have seen so far are amazing! I cannot wait to see where our stories take us! READING: This week, students are introduced to the elements of dystopia. The work we are doing in reading will directly support our writing efforts. Next week, students will be assigned their new reading groups. Our focus will be Dystopian Book Clubs! This week we kick off a brand new reading assignment: The Article of the Week. At the beginning of each week, students will be assigned a new article to read and respond to using our CLOSE READING strategies. How students choose to prioritize nightly assignments is up to them, but ALL pieces of the assignment--Reading and Writing--are DUE at the start of class each FRIDAY. To help you organize the assignment into manageable tasks, here is a suggested nightly schedule: REMEMBER: ALWAYS USE THE CLOSE READING GUIDELINES MONDAY

Students will discover how this civilization came to exist, the notable achievements of each empire, and the factors that led to its downfall.
